Jeera Aloo/ Spicy Cumin Potatoes

Jeera Aloo is one of the simplest yet an enticing typical Indian side dish of potatoes spiced with cumin seeds, ginger, garlic and few other dry spices and normally served with chapatis, hot puris and even parathas.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 medium-sized potatoes cut into small pieces
  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  • Oil-4 tablespoon
  • Red Chilli Powder 1 teaspoon
  • Dry Mango Powder/Amchur- 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander Powder 1 tablespoon
  • Garam masala 1 tablespoon
  • Ginger-Garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  • Chopped Coriander leaves 2 tablespoon

METHOD

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and sauce till color changes.
  • Add ginger garlic paste, sauce well till raw fragrance goes.
  • Add chopped potatoes, salt and stir well. Cover pan for approx 5 mins on low flame.
  • Add red chili powder, garam masala and coriander powder, stir well till the masala covers all the potatoes well. Again put the lid on the pan for more 5-7 mins.
  • Remove the lid, check whether the potatoes are properly cooked. If yes add dry mango powder(amchur). If not again cover the lid for few more minutes.
  • Once done, add the chopped coriander leaves and stir. Serve hot with chapatis, puris or parathas.
